Poetry: Pay attention

By admin · Saturday, February 27th, 2010
Salt of the Earth, of Life

Pay attention to my intention

When I walk with you time stops

Side-walk slide backwards our steps

Are movements in slow motion

Slow in the ocean, blue waves

Had me in a haze

A maze crazy

Fashioned from our engagements

Worlds circling around the sun

I am in your orbit so don’t take the shortcut

Through my heart let’s take the long walk

As we talk about metaphysical subjects

That we know none the less abstract

When we converse speaking in tongues of love

What’s being said in idioms has originated

In a land

A place that time has sought

And just as quickly forgot

Don’t look in to the brown round of my windows

They will speak the truth even when I am insincere

Word of untruth falling from my lips you hear

Benign foreign even to my heart I am lying deceitfully

To you my dear

When you seek the truth look behind the display

In the store window, look beyond the clothes I wear

Let your senses fly past the scent on my neck

Or the curve of my hip, and the skip in my walk

When I slip behind you

To fall in step-In line

I am not a new woman

Pay attention to my intention

I am your woman

Heart body and mind

Also in my soul

Did I forget to mention
