Poetry: Asking why

Emotions 5/6 (artwork 2002)

Come with me through the looking glass

You see your reflection and understand what you see

Then pass on through

Leave behind your beliefs, your superstitions

Your pre-programed comfortable simple thoughts

Step through, close your eyes and see with your mind

Concentrate now, then look, look

Focus all your thoughts, your energies

Your very being to the omni effort

Then answer the question by asking a question

With why, then why, then why

Distill the question to its lowest common denominator

By using your life’s knowledge

Then pass beyond your limits and ask why once again

And answer from a plain of thought

That is beyond your mechanical learning

Let your mind dwell in the metaphysical world of another dimension

Your thoughts then are not of you

They come from that time and space hidden within us all

Break through your earthbound mind

Then visit the place where all is possible

And ask why one last time
