Finding your lifes purpose

Which One Are You?

Concerning the pursuits of man, I come to the conclusion that there are three ways that one can live life (you may say that one can be a little of one and a little of the other which amounts to more than three, but in general there are three).

First, we have the “actors”. The “actors” are those who solely accomplish various minute tasks on a daily basis. They are the ones who make their lunch before work, pick up their laundry every Thursday at three, make dinner every night at seven, workout at eight, read Newsweek at 10, and are in bed by 11. They have a set routine with some ambition, but are content with their structured lives; so content that they have no concept of the “self” or of the nature of their existence. Essentially, they are so enthralled by their micro-existence that they will never come to understand the metaphysical world (nor do they wish to attempt to understand the nature of the “self”). These “actors” are good followers in that they will come to know the system in which they work and perfect their daily procedural tasks with no intention of rising above mid-level manager.

Next, we have the “dreamers”. The “dreamers” are those who either think they have or in fact have great ideas about various subjects. They often delve in the macro aspects of life attempting to define various metaphysical and abstract concepts. These “dreamers” often cannot fight through the smoke of perception to see the reality in which they exist. Although ambitious, “dreamers” have a terribly difficult time accomplishing the necessary daily tasks to see their “dreams” come to fruition. Their downfall is the lack of acknowledgment that portraits are painted one brush stroke at a time.

Finally, we have the “visionaries”. “Visionaries” are those who not only accomplish daily tasks with perfection, but are able to understand the metaphysical aspects of life. They have the best of both worlds. They have keen insights into the future and the nature of man’s desires while at the same time focusing their daily pursuits around bringing their vision to life. These are the great men you have read and will read in history books. These men have come to understand that every great novel has been written with careful consideration of each word.
