Bad breath: Causes and prevention

At various times in our life we will suffer from bad breath. This affliction, known as halitosis, can happen to both the healthiest, or to the sickest amongst us.

The main cause of bad breath in our physical bodies is bacterial growth. Known as plaque, this bacteria allows some sulphur compounds, to be created as a volatile cocktail in your mouth. Tooth decay, even indents or grooves in your tongue, can be holding, or catchment areas for bacteria.

Using mouthwashes, flossing and brushing of your teeth, sucking on a peppermint, or chewing gum, are a quick fix, but the problem may lie deeper than that. These will all help to remove food particles, that cause the problem if left in place, and feed, and harvest bacterial growth. Bacterial build up can lead to serious diseases of your gums.

Having a continually dry mouth is one cause of bad breath. Your body salivates inadequately enough to flush away the build up of bacteria. In the morning, we all wake up with a stale bad breath. It has been shown scientifically, that no one produces saliva, while they are sleeping.

Any adverse health condition, or minor infection will have an effect on our breath. Even constipation affects both ends of us, causing bad breath at the top end, as well.

Our diet, the foods that we eat, and the health of our digestive system, all affect our breath, in combined or additive ways. Take all together, or even just 2 or 3 of these contributing factors, and our breath will begin to keep even our pet dog away. Eating garlic flavoured foods can leave us with a strong breath, and smoking affects our mouth, and our whole body health, contributing to bad breath as well.

There are many tried and true natural bad breath cures. One is using bicarbonate of soda. Dissolve it in water, squeeze in a few drops of lemon juice, and swill the mixture around your gums, and tongue.

A number of herbs are natural breath fresheners. Aniseed, cloves, and good old fashioned mint, basil, or parsley are very effective. Chew them directly, or drink them as herbal teas.

Munching an apple, or raw guava helps to remove trapped particles of food as well. An apple a day, helps your breath, and so your breath won’t keep your partner away, anymore. Chewing on hazelnuts slowly, will help to absorb bad breath.

Eating yogurt works on bad breath in two ways. It helps normalise the digestion system, by adding its live cultures. The good bacteria in yogurt can help to kill off some of the bad bacteria in your mouth, and your stomach.

From a metaphysical understanding, bad breath stems from an allowance of spiritual stagnation. You think stale thoughts, and live from unconscious programmed beliefs of non worth. This misalignment of your mental processes, allows the physical to take on an aspect of breathing, that is not full breathing.

Bad breath is a curse for us all. It moves us away from ourselves, killing our self confidence, and allowing a sort of false image of ourselves, to be portrayed.

Some medical conditions, such as respiratory disease, support bacterial growth in clogged airways, and diabetes lowers resistance to oral infections.

Shallow breathing is one of the main causes of bad breath. Bad breath can be alleviated by taking several deep breaths every morning and night, and so love comes into you refreshed from the surrounding life, that comes alive, as you come alive. Becoming more alive, you survive the arrival of bad breath, for another day, by living more confidently.

Is time real or relative?

TIME IS RELATIVE TO REAL

I am genetically geared to age and within a period of time which is relative to the environment of reality which exists commonly and also subjectively, as well as metaphysically in an ongoing schemata which was pre-arranged by an Extra Intelligent Being, known among humans as God.

Real time is molecular and relative to signs of it, because the perception of time is the connection to common sense values, which if perception of such was not, would devalue human existance because the objective acceptance of time is the common denominator of existance in the daily equations of life.

If I lay on the sofa thinking of nothing in particular, allowing my mind rest, it will not effect the degeneration of my refrigerator, which is molecularly predisposed to degenerate. But if I lay on the sofa too long, then it will effect the common sense values of my life. Therefore, outside myself, time is relative and it is relative to the real time instilled in everything and everyone else.

Anticipation and expectation will effect my perception of time, so that 1 hour might seem like 15 minutes and how do you know that it isn’t? You have to look at a clock or a watch.

If I leave an apple on my porch, and provided some animal doesn’t eat it, it will rot. Not because of outward time, but because of inward time. Whether it takes 4 days or 2 weeks, will be dependant upon weather conditions as well as bacterial environment. I will not age significantly in those 4 days or 2 weeks, though I will age.

When I am asleep, I do not perceive time. It does not exist, except within the molecular structures of my body. For human beings, inner time is most real when asleep. How can something be real if it is not perceived? Sleep is the one thing which humanity does which requires a total loss of control, self and otherwise. 1 hour could be 15 minutes.

Uncivilized peoples who live in the jungles continue to age though they have no concept of time. They do not sit and consider distance with time, except by the signs of the sky or shadows which cast across the earth.

If time is real, it is only real to the Extra Intelligent Being and we only measure it to have some sort of civilization and organization which is important to living among many people. Being late is not considered a sin, because it isn’t. Being late is relative to what the clock says, not what your molecules are pre-fashioned to.

If I say you have 15 minutes to deliver a message and return, I have to look at a clock or watch to judge the time it took you, though I have a vague notion of what 15 minutes feels like, time is relative to my perception of it.

An introduction to alchemy – Part 1

Though alchemy is usually noted as a physical science, in ancient times, alchemy took on a large philosophical and spiritual role in society. In ancient Greece, alchemy was known as the “spagyric art” and meant “to separate and to join together.” The main definition of alchemy in Latin is “solve et coagula” or “separate, and join together”.

Most individuals believe that the goals of the alchemists were the transmutation of common metals, such as gold or silver. Other known goals of the alchemists was to create a “panacea or the elixir of life”, which was thought to be a remedy that would cure all diseases and promote infinite life and to discover a universal solvent.

Though the goals listed above were not the only uses of alchemy, they were most known and documents. During the Middle Ages, alchemists in Europe spend a lot of time trying to find the “philosopher’s stone”, which they believed was a legendary substance that was an essential ingredient for both of their goals. The “philosopher’s stone” was believed to mystically amplify the alchemist’s knowledge of alchemy so that almost anything and everything were attainable.

Alchemists were considered prestigious and enjoyed support through many centuries, but not because of their strenuous work or mystical and philosophical speculation that was important to their writing. The alchemists gained fame and respect from their mundane contributions to the “chemical” industries of their time period, which consist of the invention of gunpowder, ore testing and refining, metalworking, production of ink, dyes, paints, cosmetics, leather tanning, ceramics, glass manufacture, preparation of extracts, liquors, and the “water of life”, which was a pretty popular experiment amongst the Europeans.

Beginning in the Middle Ages, some alchemists increasingly came to view metaphysical aspects as the true foundation of alchemy, such as organic and inorganic chemical substances, physical states, and molecular material processes as mere metaphors for spiritual entities, spiritual states and ultimately, spiritual transformations.

Because of this, the literal meanings of ‘Alchemical Formulas’ were blind, hiding their true spiritual philosophy, which led them to be at odds with the Medieval Christian Church. The necessity could have otherwise lead them to the “stake and rack” of the Inquisition under charges of heresy. Thus, both the transmutation of common metals into gold and the universal panacea symbolized evolution from an imperfect, diseased, corruptible and ephemeral state towards a perfect, healthy, incorruptible and everlasting state; and the philosopher’s stone then represented some mystic key that would make this evolution possible.

The alchemists themselves believed that the twin goal symbolized his evolution from ignorance to enlightenment, and the stone represented some hidden spiritual truth or power that would lead to that goal. The cryptic alchemical symbols, diagrams, and textual imagery of late alchemical works typically contain multiple layers of meanings, allegories, and references to other equally cryptic works; and must be laboriously “decoded” in order to discover their true meaning.

The best evidence that UFOs exist

The best evidence that proves UFOs exist is that there has never been any definitive proof shown that they do NOT exist. Other than that, and we get into some pretty dicey scientific and metaphysical territories. Now, this writer does believe in the existence of extra-terrestrials. However, just because I believe it doesn’t mean I can prove it.

What About All Those Testimonies?

There have been some absolutely fascinating testimonies from individuals of all walks of life about meeting or being abducted by aliens in UFOs. There have also been many collaborative testimonies from different people about seeing the same set of lights or other phenomena in the sky. Most of the testimonies share certain features.

However, all of them can be discounted. Just because thousands of people tell the same story doesn’t make something true. How many readers out there believe in the Tooth Fairy, Santa Claus or God? You’ll find about a million other people with the same beliefs and similar personal; testimonies about all three of these figures. But somehow, the Tooth Fairy, Santa Claus and God remain unmanifested into a physical reality.

People make the worst witnesses to anything. They can lie, be under the influence of chemicals, strong emotions or extreme fatigue. Even common ailments like migraines often are preceded with migraines of very real hallucinatory images called auras. Since the human brain struggles to quickly make sense of confusing sounds and images, the brain will often make very wrong conclusions.

What About Films, Photos And Radar Detection?

Any film video, still or digital can be faked or show distortions. And a vast majority of that evidence is blurry and distorted, so you have no idea what is going on. Film is not an entirely reliable recording device, even if the person behind the camera is of impeccable character. Ever see a double exposed picture? They often look extremely convincing.

Unfortunately, this unreliability also extends to the various radar systems that have detected UFOs. Radars have been known to malfunction, to record things moving in the air that turn out to be flocks of birds or balloons, and those reading the radars can also make mistakes.

So, What’s Happening, Then?

Once upon a time, strange sights and experiences were attributed to Deities, Fairies or ghosts. And, in some cases, they still are. UFOs have joined this merry band of our modern mythology. Something happens to us that we can’t quite explain and we help use myths to make sense of it.

There usually is a kernel of truth in just about all myths. There may yet be truth to the UFO myth. However, any conclusive proof of existence has yet to appear. But, neither has the proof of their NON-existence.

To explore the theory that time does not exist leads one from Physics to Metaphysics. It is similar to the Zen Koan of whether a tree falling in a forest makes a sound if no person is present. Sound exists only in relationship to the subject and object. It is a means through which the mind or intellect of the subject is able to realise the object. So too time.

Time has no relevance without a subject and object. It does not exist but exists when a subject or object manifests. To the human mind, if the “big bang” theory describes the beginning of the Universe; the state before it can only be described as timeless. It is ethereal and eternal. Time does not exist. It encompasses the Universe and allows for the creation of matter. It leads one to the thoughts of Daisetz Suzuki – Time is time and time is timeless and time is time ‘because’ time is timeless.

So to argue that time does not exist is like arguing that God does not exist. Evidence would suggest otherwise but the more we scrutinise the topic, the more elusive the topic becomes. Humanity resides in duality. Time is a measure of that duality and many would argue so too God. Where time is a measure of the physical, God could be seen as a measure of the metaphysical. Time needs a beginning and an end: God stated, “I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end”.

If there is no duality. There can be no time. Does that state exist in Science? The answer is yes. Black holes, the theory of chaos and the big bang theory all have to contemplate that possibility. Hypothesis is the only scientific tool available as verification of any hypothesis requires the scientific method of experimentation and proof. No verifiable experiments relating to nor observations of these phenomenon are possible.

Mathematics can illustrate elaborate calculations and formula that appears to describe time. Yet by their very nature, they are merely hypothesis. Mathematics and physics deduce that: time is a constant, time is not constant given certain circumstances and time does not exist. How can time not exist? In mathematics and physics, any symbol given any value to describe any object that does not exist in a physical, quantum sense creates a non existent equation. It is possible to deduce this but does it provide actual proof? It requires faith.

The only thing left to say is that if time does not exist, God does not exist. Perhaps then, by going beyond time and God, humanity will come to appreciate the true value of both and their relationship to both.

Now, this is something that ironically has taken a lot of my time thinking about. I think that this more of a philosophical question than a physical one. But allow me to present a concept that a friend of mine thought of many years ago.

Let’s assume that the Universe is infinite. It goes out in all directions forever. Try not to conceptualize infinity for too long. Just accept this for now.

Now, let’s assume that there are an infinite number of Universes. If we’ve already accepted infinity once, imagining infinity to the infinite power shouldn’t be that hard.

So, given that there are an infinite number of infinitely large Universes this means that anything and everything possible (or at least probable) is happening in at least one of these Universes at any given time. So, theoretically, one could think that we’re not truly moving through time at all, but simply moving from one point in one Universe to another.

Of course, in order for this theory to work we would still need a constant and here is where we get to the philosophical part of the concept. The only concept would have to be something that isn’t physical, but rather metaphysical. Some could say that it’s the mind, soul, or whatever. But, if you put it into that perspective it actually works. It could also explain things like psychic phenomenon and deja vu as nothing more than your mind/soul/whatever catching a slight glimpse of a Universe that you were not meant to go to, but blinked into for half a second.

It’s just a theory, but it works for me.

Individual vulnerabilities that may lead to anorexia

As a recovering anorexic, as one never fully recovers, I have come to realize that I need one thing above all others: connections. For nearly a decade after first developing anorexia, I was instructed by my parents, especially my dad, to care for myself. I needed to get good grades, exercise regularily, regulate my emotions (I was a very angry and violent person) and numerous other self-maintaning actions. Yet, I feel that many anorexics don’t care for themselves “pracically”; how could one explain anorexia nervioso otherwise. Anorexics do not want to care for themselves as others do.

How do others care for themselves. In pracitical ways. What does it mean to care for onself practically? In all my thinking. I’ve realized that one must disconnect onself from the world around them; we can’t think too much about others to practically care for themselves. Surely this makes sense, as one has a fundmental right and perhaps duty to care for onself.

Yet, I have found that I desperately seek to connect with others. Shockingly if I feel that I am not well-connected with others, I cannot care for myself. Thus my connections to others come before caring for myself; I am greatly dependent on the metaphysical concept of the Other. This is obviously a problem, for sometimes others just do not want to connect with you. When I was younger I had trouble socializing, as I wanted badly to connect to others. Thus I became angry at people when I felt they were not connecting deeply enough with me, though at the time I didn’t realize this was the cause for my anger. So I lashed back, and treated many people terrible to become popular. I realize now that I wanted to get popular so that people would be forced to connect with me, even if on a superficial level. Yet, this superficial level was not enough for me: shortly after I become popular I developed anorexia.

Clearly, it was not the quantity of possible people to connect with that I craved; but it was the abillity to connect deeply and qualtively with others. So, I eventually made some great friends and began to learn how to care practically for myself. But soon this was not enough; my need to connect with others goes beyound my family and my small circle of close friends. I’ve come to realize that I must allow connecting deeply with others to be the top priority in my life, and that I must be free to connect with whomever I feel like. I can’t become enclosed into a life of my family and few great friends.

So, I have ceded my practical ideas of caring for myself to my passionate need to connect qualitively with as many people as possible. I now read much humanistic literature, and am trying to learn how to accept that I cannot be like most people. Hopefully this helps shed light on perhaps a major cause of anorexia nervioso: an unbridled need to connect with others that outweighs concerns for practical self maintence. Furthermore, if anorexics take responsibility for themselves and there need to connect to others, they can hopefully live productive and even very enjoyable lives. I sure will try to do both.

Predicting the next phase of human evolution

The next phase of evolution for humankind will soar into the unknown. The aroma of our future is on the table already. Long before any serious physical transformations can occur naturally we will have more control of our minds; with cerebral, supernatural, and metaphysical powers guiding our way into the mysteries of existence. These changes have already begun.

Most of us know that we use maybe 10% of our total brain power or, perhaps better stated, 10% of our talents and mental, psychic abilities. Many everyday people have precognitions; the phone is going to ring, or don’t board that flight. Haven’t you felt’ someone watching you? Some have sensed distant loved ones depart from this earthly existence. These and many more are documented and verified occurrences.

Most of us have also been witness to incredible mental demonstrations Savants that play the piano or paint in ways difficult to believe, others can tell you what day of the week it was on June 4, 1842, or any other date. Yet others calculate the values of pi to the nth degree without any kind of aid.

The U.S. military spent millions during the 70’s, and 80’s on remote viewing’. A method of mentally seeing great distances; they where successful in some way’s but could not interpret what was being seen. The most amazing occurrence was when the Italian terror group the Red Brigades’ kidnapped US Brigadier General James Dozier. Our remote viewer had everything about the hideout but the street address. There are many records of people that have helped police solve the mysteries of murders and other crimes. These people are not self-aggrandizing; on the contrary they would prefer not to see the brutal, ugly, and evil side of humanity.

Thanks to the products of our experience, our expanding knowledge and intelligence, we are now creating more intricacies then ever in our lives. As we work to understand our world our minds are exercised; our primary evolutionary survival ability, deductive reasoning, is honed.

We are on the verge of being able to remove dyslexic DNA to allow newborns to have normal lives. These are tools are designed by us to affect our own physical being. Altering physical attributes to better one’s odds of survival describes the standard definition of evolution.

As for humanity, there is no way we could evolve as a species physically by experiencing similar conditions. If that where true the displaced starving millions could get used to it’, they could adapt’. Equivalent conditions

Alchemy is an ancient craft. It generally encompasses a method of turning metal to gold or silver and the use of plant materials to create a “cure all”. Alchemy has long been associated with the metaphysical. Maybe it is because they were always in search of a magical stone, the philosopher’s stone, which was said to be made of some mythical substance or element. Supposedly possession of the stone would give them the power to do both goals previously stated.

Alchemists may never have found their philosopher’s stone but they did produce metalworking and healing elixirs, which are like the herbal medicines of today. Traditional Chinese Medicine and Ayurveda can be considered Alchemic in nature. To many Alchemy was almost a religion. It involved a spiritual element and was believed to enhance the mind and the soul of the Alchemist.

Over time Alchemy became more of a science. Chemistry, Physics and Modern Medicine have taken the place of Alchemy. Scientists now study Alchemy more to see how it relates to various civilizations. They study the ancient texts associated with Alchemy hoping to find its correlation in the evolution of science and mysticism, or perhaps they are still searching for the philosopher’s stone.

Problems with confirmational bias in modern science

Science has always been somewhat confrontational and most often doing so unintentionally. When new discoveries are made or new methods are employed these often interrupt the usual way society thinks, works and plays. It is a trait of human nature to like the tried and true and to argue and to brazenly denounce the startling and the hitherto unheard-of.

Modern science, according to Dr. Martin Nickels, Anthropologist from Illinois State University, my lone research effort for this article, sees itself as an interpreter of “the natural world” and is less concerned with the gathering of facts and descriptive explanations of how things are.

The natural world, as he sees it, is the world we can see, feel, touch, and is a tangible world, one that is generally agreed upon. And he readily admits that much of this world along its fringes’ are not clearly delineated. Residing close by these cloudy areas is the unknowable supernatural’ or metaphysical’. These he points out may exist, yet it’s not the purpose of science to pursue them.

Science of whatever category is never absolutely sure of everything it expounds upon. It may be true at that moment in time and later newer evidence may prove it wrong. In other words, modern science in its finest moments seeks to present the truth but the truth of any situation is never static. What is true then for that purpose may not be true today for this purpose.

Society, often set in it’s ways, has a hard time dealing with this. And it’s also true that segments of society seek to widen gaps of misunderstanding for various reasons, none of them complimentary to science in its genuine form. Their consternation is understandable when we realize that it is only possible for a person or a group of persons to understand or grasp what they have previously encountered.

An explanation of that statement is as close as the title of this article. MODERN SCIENCE AND ITS CONFRONTATIONA BIAS. All of the Helium contestants will be viewing this differently, according to their own interpretations. Some will seek to understand how differences come about, others will jump right in on one side or the other and even some may be accuse this or that source for adding to the bias. None of this is essentially wrong, neither is it essentially right. It is the way things are.
