Does the law of attraction really work

I have read a lot of self-help books that focus on the Law of Attraction. One of the issues I have with those books is that they might work and should work, but often don’t. The main premise of every, single, one of these books was that manifesting prosperity was a simple matter of thinking (or feeling) it into being – Of sending out good vibrations to attract good vibrations back.

I believe in the law of attraction. I believe that we get back exactly what we put out. I also believe that, as in What the Bleep Do We Know, that we can get caught in the vicious metaphysical cycle where negativity can grow exponentially, constantly feeding on itself and everything else around it. And I believe that negativity is, in many ways, stronger than positivity – stronger but not necessarily more powerful (but more on that later).

Negativity is like a cancer. It grows and spreads and, often, you don’t even realize how far it has gone until things start falling apart. And by the time that happens it’s way too late and things have already started to snowball. Negativity is sneaky and insidious and delicious.

The taste of negativity is like holding an ice-cold knife between your teeth – Cold, metallic, sharp, unyielding. At first the metal taste fills the mouth but, after a while you don’t taste it at all. The metal warms to your mouth and the metal taste becomes part of everything else and you kind of, settle into it until that metallic taste becomes sweet and smooth, like vanilla ice cream.

Meanwhile, on a cellular level, your adrenal glands are pumping what seems like gallons of adrenaline and cortisol into your system, making you edgy and nervous and oh so very, very high. And your cells are screaming: “Give me more!” So you find more things to get angry about, you find more stuff to scare yourself with, or you just keep rehashing the same old stuff, anything to keep it flowing – that delicious cold metal and adrenaline cocktail. And if even if you have the presence of mind to say: “Hey, wait a minute. This isn’t getting me anywhere This isn’t working I need to stop” it doesn’t really stop. There’s that brief moment of lucidity then something else sets it off.

I remember one time when I was angry with my grandmother. I was going on and on about this thing that she does all the time and how it just pissed me off so much that I couldn’t stand even being around her. Then I realized what was up and I said to myself: “You know, you’ve really got to let this go. You

Body Language is the most effective communicator of unspoken emotions. It could aid in how we can make our working and home environment positive and inspiring. How we communicate through body language symbolizes the breeding we have for it goes without saying, that body language is a part of our everyday dealings with people who are in our social circle, or those who we have to meet for business functions or job-related assignments.

Most of us perceived “body language” as a personal action or gesture of one person that could send messages or signals other than they intent to other people. For other people, this is called a “metaphysical form of communication”, or the non-verbal way to impart your thoughts without verbalizing it.

Let us approach this article by accentuating on the benefits of “body language” as one way to bring positive results to other people. In application therefore, let us use it to inspire employees of your organization, support a friend or show a better character to the people you mingle with everyday. So instead of focusing on the “I”, we focus instead on “him, her, they, and us”.

Here are some tips that could help you understand how powerful body language is to other people:

1. EYE CONTACT: Showing respect for other people is maintaining your eye contact with them during conversation. If you like someone, you will be shy to maintain eye contact, and the opposite applies when you hate someone. Direct eye contact during business transaction with your potential client will show good faith and confidence about what you are talking about. Some people associate dishonesty by avoiding eye contact.

2. TAP ON ONE’S SHOULDER: This works effectively for managers of organizations. A tap on your

employee’s shoulder will send the message that you admire him or that you are happy with his work output. This would also encourage positive working values aside from inspiring your employees to deliver their services successfully.

3. CROSSING OF BOTH ARMS: This is not a good body language for it sends the message that you are not interested in the person you are conversing with. It also signify a “sense of distrust” to whoever you are dealing with. The best way to talk with someone is with your both arms freely swaying for this means “openness” and sincere welcome.

On the other hand, a body language need not create fear in you if you are someone who wants freedom to express yourself in whatever truthful manner you desire.

How children show they love their parents

I just read a news article about the murder of a little two-year-old girl the news media named “Baby Grace.” She was violently and brutally killed by her own mother and step-father even while she said to her mom as the violence was happening that she loved her. Reading that the little girl’s dying words during her brutal death by her own mother were “I love you” made me feel so sad. I wished I could have been the girl’s mother.

I believe that when we sleep at night, we travel, something like the type of astral projecting described by Shirley McClaine in her metaphysical books. We also dream, but our dreams are public, because we are all connected in spirit by our collective unconsciouses. Why I bring this up is that today after reading the horrible and so sad story about Baby Grace I prayed to my guides to let me visit the little girl in spirit tonight as I slept to just see how she was doing. I was worried that she missed her mom but felt she did not love her.

Why I prayed for that is because I felt upset that the little girl might not have had family to help receive her departed spirit when she died. Perhaps there is a god that helped her cross and I hope that was the case. But not to have the love of your mother to reach out to her in your dying words, only to be brutalized further is just so sad for a child. I really want Baby Grace to know she has friends. And I want to make sure that she is not feeling fear what with the loss of life at so young an age and so unready for death.

If you feel touched by this little girl who could still summon love for her mother as she lay dying from her mom’s hands, please pray for her when you go to sleep and perhaps you will visit her and comfort her when you sleep. I think it would help her. She died when she was hurled across a room after being beaten by a belt and dunked under water with her head held there. I find it so moving that she said “I love you” to her mom even as she did these horrible things.

When we dream or travel at night we connect with people we know and might come to know. We prepare ourselves for our future by these connections we make at night. Our lives are indeed formed by the quality of the people we encounter and befriend at night. I want to help this little girl and if you do too ask your guides to take you to her so she can have your comfort.

Baby Grace’s mother could go to jail for life the killing of her child. She is only 20 years old. I hope when she sleeps, and when her baby reaches out to her – which she very well could do, even with the brutal death she suffered at the mom’s hands – that she will respond in a loving way. Being in jail for life will certainly give the mother a long time to think about what she did, and when she sleeps her dreams and traveling will be affected by these horrible actions. I hope she does one good thing in her life and that is to love her child now in the spirit realm if and when they connect. That love could be the saving grace for Baby Grace.

Kabbalistic Tu Bishvat customs

Kabbalistic Tu Bishvat customs originated in the 1500’s when a group of Kabbalist believers, living in the town of Tzfat (Safed) in the Galilee area of Israel, instituted a new ceremony for the celebration of the New Year, Tu B’shvat (day 15 of the month Shvat). This ceremonial ritual is focused on the Tree of Life and renewing the connection to the earthly plane.

The cosmology of the Kabbalist segment of the Jewish community stresses the importance of nature and its connection to the divine. Using the “Four Worlds” imagery, root, trunk, branches and leaves, the theme of purifying and restoring the cosmic energy to its natural balance, increasing the fertility of the Tree and strengthening the connection to the earthly realm are extolled as a means of gaining similar effects of purification and fertility in a material way.

There are four layers of meaning in the text of the Torah, according to the Kabbalist tradition, and the customs used to celebrate the Tu B’shvat seder (ritual instructions) exhibit this layered meaning. The actual rituals are handed down from the book, “Peri Eitz Hadar”(The Fruit of the Beautiful Tree), written by Nathan of Gaza and promoted to accepted religious practice by Ytzahk Luria (1534-1572) and his disciples in Tzfat (Safed).

Ritually consuming ten particular fruits in a specific order, blending white and red wine in each of four cups and reciting verses from the Torah, old Rabbinical essays and Kabbalist texts (Zoharic literature) are the practices still popular today. The words focus the mind on the inner meaning of the edible symbols of the Four Worlds. Beside representing the fruit of the earth, the ten fruit symbolize the ten Sephirot in the graphic presentation of the ten emanations through which god may manifest on the material and metaphysical reality.

Eating the fruit in a certain order makes the connection with the Tree as well as expressing the journey from one of the Four Worlds to another, always from the earthly towards the more spiritual. Each layer is more difficult than the last for the limitations of humans to be overcome and the expression of the nature of god to be observable but in nature it is laid out in a way that we can perceive and understand.

The Hebrew language is one of the few that represent numbers with the same symbols they use for letters. The Kabbalist beliefs have created a methodology called Gematria for deciphering the inner secrets of sacred texts by making use of the letter/number combinations inherent in the language. These complexities have their place in the ceremonies of the Tu B’shvat seder as well.

The complex numerology aside, the Kabbalist believe that the Torah is paralleled by nature and all the information available in one is also there in the other. The Kabbalistic customs of the Tu Bishvat seder are to enhance and purify the connection between the Tree of Life and the material realm where an increase in the fertility of the cosmic Tree will be reflected in the orchards and nurseries on earth.

How Tu Bishvat is celebrated in Israel

According to the Hebrew calendar this is the year 5769 and in the land of Israel the New Year, Tu Bishvat (one of four in the yearly cycle), is celebrated on day 15 of the month of Shvat. This year it works out to be February 9, 2009 and is the time of year when the wild almond trees are in bloom throughout the land. Three different types of ceremonies occur in Israel on this day according to the beliefs of the celebrants.

The Rabbinic Tu B’shvat is used in the calculation of the age of fruit trees to determine the paying of tithes. In the Torah it states that no fruit is to be eaten from the first three harvests while the fourth one is paid in tithes and after that the fruit may be eaten. The age of the tree starts at Tu B’shvat of the year the tree was planted.

A feast of dried fruits, nuts and carob sustain the believers while they plant a tree on this Jewish Arbor Day. Figs, dates, apricots, citrus, almonds and carob are common treats at all times in this region so it is likely even the secular will be sharing this type of meal.

Rabbinical Stewardship or Ecological Tu Bishvat is a natural extension of the religious context behind the holiday. It is relatively recent on the scene, having developed in the early 1970’s during discussions of the human to earth interface (adam-adamah). Like other religions since, the Jewish religious leaders were commenting on the questionable policies of stewardship of the land that politics and commerce were forcing on the religious community. The natural affinity between the ecological movement and the Rabbinical Stewardship made an easy transition from the need to reforest the land, the acknowledgement of the importance of forests the world over to all life on this planet and the mystical sacredness of the concept of the Tree of Life.

The imagery of the real tree as a reflection of the Tree of Life is the defining characteristic of Tu Bishvat ceremonies in Israel for the third and most ritualistic of the New Year celebrations. Jewish Kabbalistic customs of Tu Bishvat are detailed and defined by the book, “Peri Eitz Hadar” (The Fruit of the Beautiful Tree). This text was enthusiastically promoted by Ytzahk Luria (1534-1572) and his disciples until it became accepted religious practice. The ceremony, called the Tu Bishvat seder, involves the ritual consumption of dried fruits and wine and the recitation of religious tracts.

There are ten designated fruits, to be eaten in a specific order, and the seder gives instructions regarding the blending of the white and red wine among four cups as well as providing verses to recite during the festival.

Kabbalistic ceremonies of Tu Bishvat focus on the importance of nature, repairing and strengthening the connection between the metaphysical Tree of Life and the material world. Purifying and balancing the energy, while increasing the fertility of the cosmic Tree brings similar benefits to the earthly realm.

Even though different aspects of the population in the land of Israel celebrate Tu B’shvat in various ways, the symbolic imagery of the natural tree is meshed with the contemplation of the divine life force, the essence of fertility, the Tree of Life.

The pagan roots to Easter traditions

Easter is a holiday that predates Christianity by several thousand years. The name itself is taken from ancient beliefs: Eastre (also called Ostara) is a Goddess, whose Feast celebrates the dawning of the new Spring, the end of the dark half of the year, and the true return of the Sun.

It is easy to see why adopting this holiday was so crucial to the early Christian Church; without a version of it, converted followers would be ‘left in the cold’ in a very real respect – to the superstitious citizens of Imperial and Free Europe, there must be a Holy Day to mark the Rise of the Sun (Son), or Winter might not end. On this day, traditionally the Vernal Equinox, the sun rises due East: even the Anglo name for the direction takes its name from this ancient Goddess.

Other aspect of today’s Easter celebrations have also been adapted from pre-Christian belief systems. The Easter Bunny follows from the worship of Eastre herself; the rabit was her totem. The first birthing of Spring would shortly be followed by the first laying of eggs.

In this context, it was believed, the arrival of Eastre’s rabbits brought on the laying of eggs, which chickens and other birds tend to hide, in an effort to hatch an early brood of chicks. Hence the Eastre egg hunt. If one could find an egg on Eastre’s day, it would herald a good omen for the year ahead.

Even the Pagan Romans held a Feast to mark the Vernal Equinox. The followers of Dionysus, for example, would bake a kind of hard bread, to be eaten with wine Dionysus was known for, to commemorate the brutal death of their God on behalf of mankind, and his Resurection on ‘the day the light returns’. They would ‘eat of His body’ to honor his sacrifice.

Many other, older faiths tell of Gods who rose from the dead, proving their divinity. Dionysus is merely one example. Other commonly known Sons of God, Gods themselves, who underwent a terrible death, to save mankind from some metaphysical darkness, then experienced The Resurrection, include Osiris, Adonis, Odin (who was even jabbed with a Spear), their counterparts in other regions, and many others.

Easter, from its religious underpinnings, to its peculiar celebrations and traditions, is far older than the Church that now claims it. Every aspect of the holiday, from the Resurection itself, to the famous Easter Egg Hunt, is as old as human belief.

What is love anyway? As demonstrated by my small collection of quotes, one can see that poets, writers, scientists, philosophers have pondered this special topic, and I dare say, endlessly throughout time, since ancient civilizations anyway. We even have a dedicated (commercialized) holiday (sadly, non-Federal) we all know as Valentine’s Day.

It is common knowledge that love is a feeling, an emotion, and something definitely metaphysical. We don’t need Merriam-Webster to define it for us. Yet for further explanation, we need scholars to enlighten us on the complexities of this worda noun, verb, and an adjective depending on the context.

Imagine your eyes lock with that special someone, your pulse turns erratic, your breathing becomes shallow, your body begins to warm up, oh and is that music in the distance, time disappears and so does your surroundings, as far as you know, it’s just you and that perfect someone. Privacy would be very nice indeed.

Whoa, hold on there, how do you know that it’s the real thing? How can you be certain?

Luckily for us, science likes to be certain and because of which we know more about love now than a generation ago as neurologists, psychologists, biologists, anthropologists and scientists from other disciplines examine and research that thing that makes the world go round. One such research is by Geoffrey Miller, an assistant professor in University of New Mexico’s psychology department, authored an academic paper with Peter Todd, professor of informatics, cognitive science, and psychology in Indiana University, on mate choice. Unquestionably a sexy thesis.

A Twin Flame Story (OUR story)

I could feel it coming. From the tips of my fingers to the soles of my feet, there was an excitement within that could not be contained. Every day I would wake up and wonder, “is this the day? THE day?” I was standing on the edge of my life, looking out and wondering, waiting for it to be revealed. But WHAT? What was this flurry of activity within my soul, within every cell of my being? I mean, I knew life was abundant, full, rich beyond imagination. I had surpassed so many obstacles, self-destructive periods, and shadowy times, and now I was reaping the rewards of the toughest job of all. The job of knowing oneself. The journey within, and then the trek back out into the world, new, raw, and looking at life in an entirely different way. I was THRILLED to be ME. And yet, something was coming. Something even better than I had thought possible. How could that be, I wondered?

When my friend Cindy called me a few months back to tell me about her new friend Isaac, whom she felt she had known for years, I felt an instant kinship with him, as well. I remembered him from the school the three of us had attended at different points, but he always remained on the periphery of my vision, a tall, lanky guy in a black cap. I knew he was spiritual, but Cindy kept singing his praises, repeating that I needed to call him for a reading. Apparently his psychic abilities were simply phenomenal. I had heard from Cindy that Isaac had been bitten several times by a black widow spider, and was in the midst of recovering from an almost near-death experience. I asked her if they had looked up the metaphysical meaning of spider bites, as I felt that meant some sort of spiritual rebirth that Isaac was to undergo. In the meantime, I tried to send as much loving, healing energy his way, because although I didn’t know him personally, I knew how important he was to Cindy. Cindy is my soul-sister, and I would do anything for that girl! As I started focusing my energy on Isaac, I felt this sense of knowing him as well, and even mentioned to Cindy that if he started to slide back towards death, I was compelled to fly on out there to help him. No idea WHY, yet, but just knew that I would. It was about a month before we actually connected due to the severity of the bites. When Isaac emailed me to tell me he was ready to do a reading for me, he told me to prepare for my reading…meditate, whatever I needed to do to get myself into that space mentally.

The Dating Game

I get this over and over and over again in my professional practice. Women, who are otherwise intelligent and logical beings become irrational and unrealistic and anxiety ridden when the object of their affections becomes ambivalent, or worse, uninterested.

I am not talking about those in “long term” relationships. I am talking about those who are truly single and dating who don’t want to give a relationship time to grow or develop naturally, or don’t allow the male to take the “reigns” so to speak, of the masculine energy role (the initiator) and jump the gun in oh so many ways.

The advice that I give over and over and over again, which VERY few follow, is to remove their energy and attention AWAY from the gentleman who is behaving in a distant manner. This means, don’t call him up, don’t text him, don’t stalk him online, don’t invite him out……….the female (at the dating stage) must allow the male the time and the “room” to decide whether or not he wants to take this further, which is not on the same schedule as the female.

Females tend to decide very quickly that they want to be involved. They may have just flirted with a gentleman and they will call me and ask “is this the guy that I am going to marry”. Although the cards will show if there is a POTENTIAL for a long term relationship, if you have just met a guy this weekend and he hasn’t even asked you out yet, this question is based on suppositions galore and it is not likely that you will get a very accurate answer.

Tarot Readings are not set in stone. They will tell you what is LIKELY to happen if you remain on the same path, continue with the same types of actions, into the future. Any changes in YOUR behavior change the outcomes of the situation…..Tarot Readings are a living, breathing, metaphysical wonder and change as your actions change.

A more apropos question at the first stages of infatuation would be “will he ask me out” and then after a date or so “will we develop a relationship” perhaps after 6-9 months of exclusive dating….”will he consider marrying me”…….the questions have to be realistic in comparison to the situation in order to have any sense of accuracy.

Healing from toxic relationships

Toxic relationships often seem like a date with Satan. It’s as if some supernatural being is reading your thoughts, feelings, urgings, and beliefs and mocking them mercilessly. While it is easy to believe the person with whom you are in a toxic relationship is willfully and deliberately provoking your horrified response; it is, ultimately, hard to say for sure. It might be, more simply and less blamefully, caused by vastly different perceptions of reality, and the inability of either party to effect any reconciliation between the two views.

In the realm of metaphysical studies, one finds the notion that reality exists in many different potentialities and it is our act of locking in on one in particular that creates “reality.” If this is so, it may well explain why vastly different selections of reality between two (or more) people who must regularly interact might feel like hell on earth. It would also explain the supernatural feel that toxic relationships can have, because it goes to the root of our existence and co-existence.

It seems that well-intended people suffer toxic relationships the most. The hypothesis above might also explain this. If what is maligned in a toxic relationship is something truly beyond our will to manage or change, then applying effort to the problem is the truest cause of the suffering that results. It may be that people who desire connection are most likely to suffer. Does that mean that we should all become cold fish so as not to suffer? That is for the individual to decide; however, it might explain why some people chose this route.

None of this philosophizing on the subject is intended to minimize the truth of the suffering involved in toxic relationships. Intellectual ideas or knowledge can be helpful, but do not create an impermeable buffer against emotional pain. There will be an ongoing need to experience the emotions, apply the intellect, have an emotionally intelligent response, and so on. This cannot be escaped, no matter how ardently one may wish for peaceful and easy relations with others. To date, mankind is not made for that reality. Perhaps, if and when we experience the spiritual revolution some say is coming, we will be, but not yet.

The best thing to do upon finding yourself in a toxic relationship is to consider the reality and non-reality of the situation. Consider how that person might see things in a way that is vastly different from your point of view. Consider why that might be and consider the ways in which that person may be right and you might be resisting their truth for reasons that should be adjusted in light of their co-existence with you, or, how you might change their mind, if that seems appropriate. Also, think of ways in which to communicate and encourage a like examination of your point of view in the other, if you can. Otherwise, run like hell, if you are lucky and you can get away, because it’s not likely to get better without a supernatural sort of effort, if that sort of effort is even possible to undertake.
