Kevin: What are some of the best bottled waters that you experienced? It’s obviously not the best compared to the spectrum that we’re talking about here, but obviously when you’re traveling or you’re on a plane or something like that, sometimes you just need water. Is it more important to have water than it is to have pure filtered water? Do you know what I mean?

David: I think if you’re going to be traveling around and you want to grab something off the shelf you’re first preference should be for glass bottled water. Glasses are recyclable material. If you break a piece of glass, for example, it will eventually be turned into sand over a period of a hundred years as it erodes down. It’s complicity friendly to the environment, it doesn’t out gas like plastic does toxic chemical into the water and I like to support companies that still produce glass bottled water because its rare and one thing we don’t need more of is more plastic on the planet. Companies that I like are Volvic Water, which does a good glass bottled water. Voss Water does a good glass bottled water and even Evian does a good glass bottled water and those are always my first pick. If you’re going to get on the internet and you want to hunt down where to find the best glass bottled water there is, there’s no question that it is the stuff that’s coming out of Austria. So the best bottled water that’s on the internet is Grander Water and you can go to http://grander.com and you’ll see that he has these one liter bottle sizes. Not only is that water just phenomenal and properly bottled and it’s a spring that’s properly tapped, but the glass itself is magnetically treated to keep the water charged.

Kevin: Wow.

Kevin: Let’s talk a little bit about tea, because water and tea, you need water to make tea and as you can probably explain better it’s a great way to bring extra nutrients and extra herbal tinctures into your system.

David: This is how I do it at home, there’s only so much water that you really want to drink before you finally go, this is boring. Because there’s a point of boredom where it’s like, I don’t really want to drink water anymore. I’d like to have something else. What’s a great something else? I like to create on a wood burning stove here, teas that are made out of herbs from our forest. We’ll just put it in there and I’ll do a little vortexing in there and the wood burning stove has a different kind of radiant than an electrical stove or a gas stove and it treats water better and from there will create the teas and literally I’ll be drinking the teas all day. What I find is that keeps me hydrated, number one, number two, because I’m on spring water, I’m getting more spring water movement through my body which is what I want because I’m achieving that goal as well. Three, you’re getting medicinal value out of it. You’re not just getting water. You’re also getting some of the medicines for example that’s in reshy mushroom which is the one that I like to make tea out of or mytocky mushroom is another one that grows here that we’re making tea out of, so when all those factors are taken together, the tea idea really starts to make sense and we probably can see why the great herbalist were tea drinkers.

Kevin: What temperature should you be conscious about heating it to, so you don’t destroy some propers of the water?

David: That’s an excellent question. That is a really good question. The flash point of water appears to be about 170 degrees. Here’s how this was discovered. It was discovered that if you heat water beyond – say you heat water beyond 170 to 190. You boil the water, then you cool it down, then you drink it. Your body will actually generate a white blood cell reaction to that water. Let’s say you heat it up only to 150 degrees and then cooled it back down and then drank it. Your body generates no white blood cell reaction. The response by the human body is kind of an immune system response to an intruder or a foreign object and through that research the number of 170 degrees was arrived at.

Kevin: Do you just want to make sure you keep it at a low temperature for how ever long your steeping what you’re putting in?

David: Right and you see herbalist say you can’t get the medicinal compounds out of whatever unless you boil it and I completely disagree. I completely disagree about that with the mushrooms. I’m a mushroom hunter. I make mushroom teas everyday. Every herbalist that I knew when I was a kid – Chinese medical doctors said you have to boil it, you have to boil it. I never boil it and it’s perfectly fine. In fact, it’s the best ever.

Kevin: You already mentioned maitake and reishi. What are some of your favorite tea concoctions that you’ve created?

David: A great one is goji berry, vanilla bean, Pau d’Arco, which is a bark from Central America. It’s an awesome, awesome plant. They use to make bows and arrows out of it. Cat’s claw, that’s a great one and Nettles tea, Horsetail tea. You can use these individually or combined them all together. So that would be goji berry, vanilla, Pau d’Arco, cat’s claw, nettles and horsetail. Those are amazing.

Kevin: What are some of the benefits of some of those nettles? Particularly, Pau d’Arco and cat’s claw, what are some of the –

David: That’s a good question. Since we we’re talking about silica, horsetail and nettles are super high in silica and therefore, they have an ability to help you with your bone density for example. Let’s talk about Pau d’Arco. Pau d’Arco is a very powerful antifungal. Cat’s claw is a very powerful antiviral. Vanilla bean just is like a feel good food and goji berry has immune system polysaccharides in it and this all comes out into the water when you make tea out of these things. You can make a super immune tonic tea for yourself everyday.. Get all your water needs met and be happy to do it and that to me is where I’m at with it. I think that’s where I want to be. I want to be happy with what I’m doing. I don’t want to force myself to drink water or too much water. I want to go and enjoy the process.

Kevin: Yeah, that’s great. Anyone who’s searching for nettles, please use gloves. I’ve made the mistake of not using gloves and just saying oh, is this a nettle. Oh my gosh, what a nightmare. Let’s kind of wrap this up. We have about five more minutes. I want to talk about what, if we can recap, the steps someone can take to maybe on a scale of spring water to tap water and what they can do to start getting moving and really improve quality of the water and improve the quality of their life. That’s what it’s really about.

David: Right. First step is just being conscious and aware that water likes certain things and it doesn’t like certain things. Water likes to move in a meandering way. Water likes to be moved in a vortex or spiral. Anytime that you can spiral water for example, is a good thing. I would also recommend that just being aware that water has a consciousness and that if your goal is to be ennobled into your consciousness will cause you to treat water differently.. The way we treat water in this world is appalling really. We use 100,000 gallons just to make pure water. I mean, how many people could drink from that water?

This is kind of where we’ve got to go in the future where we clean up our rivers, we clean up our streams and we get back to normal so to speak. Definitely every bit of the intention along the way from let’s say on a municipal system, every bit of intention that you put onto the water from the time the water comes from your house all the way to the time it comes out of your faucet or your shower, it is valuable and I believe that the water responds to it.

For example, you can put a filtration mechanism on the intake of the house that all of a sudden you have no chlorine coming out in your house, in the water in your house and that’s a great step. Another thing might be to put a Kangen System right on there before you drink it. Another deal might be to take the Kangen water and go ahead and put a little bit of Dr. Flanagan’s crystal energy in there with a little bit of maybe a little bit of sea salt and then spin that up and then drink that. Each step is important and it is overkill. Well, I’m kind of a water – I’m kind of a – I feel like I’m a – how do I want to…

Kevin: Connoisseur?

David: I feel like I’m the messenger for the spirit of fresh, pure, clean water and water with intentions and therefore, I want to always go the extra step to make sure that that water is happy as kind of metaphysical as that sounds, there’s an effect. That’s why I keep doing it. If I didn’t feel good, I wouldn’t keep doing it.

Each moment of our life is a gift. The very fact that we are breathing in and out means we deserve to be here. It means that whatever we want to create in our lives is there for the creating. It means that you are a child of the universe, a divine child of the manifestation of source energy and it means that your body is the interface device with which you experience this reality.

You are spiritual and are experiencing a physical reality. There is no argument for this. The limitations you have placed upon yourself start in your early childhood and are imprinted on the sub-conscious self that is much bigger than the active self. Your subconscious self, much like the unseen part of an iceberg is that part of you that is in continuous contact with your source energy.

That part of you does not judge good or bad, however it does provide you with automated responses based upon your beliefs that have been reinforced over and over again by your experiences. It has recorded all your preferences and will deliver them up to you much like the device on Star Trek that creates any type of food you want to eat in a second.

This most powerful part of your being responds to your every command immediately. So now that you understand the law of attraction and are practicing positive thinking – how come nothing’s happening – how come you’re not getting what you want?

You can practice thinking positively, you can practice speaking positive affirmations but until you learn to just be happy or reprogram your subconscious nothing’s going to work.

Abraham Hicks tells us that well being is constantly flowing towards us. It’s a matter of being open to it. If we’re not, we’re pinching it off. If we’re pinching it off we’re resisting or pushing against it. We do this in several ways – we do it by default (allowing our unconscious and ego to take command and thus use our negative belief structures as our programs) or we do it by resisting what we perceive as negative in our lives. Abraham Hicks says that our negative beliefs lie dormant until we activate them. They say that the way to avoid activating them is to stay in the flow – stay open to the flow of well-being.

Our bodies, as our interface device for this reality, will tell us exactly what we need to know if we just listen. In Star Trek’s The Voyage Home, in the beginning Spock is asked a series of questions that ensure his being is fully integrated into his newly grown body. Some of them are metaphysical questions, some are scientific, but at the end the computer asks “How Do You Feel” and at this Spock is once again stunned. It is then that his human mother tells him that as a human he will have feelings.

This is poignant for us as well, because it is our feelings that at any given moment can show us where we are with respect to the manifestation of our desires. If we’re feeling good, we’re in alignment with well being. If we’re not feeling good, we are not aligned. It’s that simple.

Learn to be happy all the time and not resist the flow or work on removing your negative conditioning – either one will work – it’s all a matter of preferences. If you can do this, manifesting your desires will be as easy as saying Beam Me Up Scotty.

Increasingly, studies in the United States show that alternative forms of medical treatment actually increase among those who attain a higher level of education. A recent study by the Statistics branch of the Center for Disease Control (CDC) showed that about seventy-five percent of the adults in America have used some form of alternative medicine with only about half of them using the alternative forms in conjunction with professional medical treatments.

Advocates of alternative medicines point out that many treatments ultimately pass the testing phase to become mainstream and that through early implementation, can have the treatment of many diseases in the hands of the people years before an official sanction would allow access. Critics of the alternative medical systems argue that these untested forms of treatment are more likely to delay people from seeking tested and authorized medicines and can therefore exacerbate the problems before professional help can be given.

Another argument against alternative medicines is that the dosages of these medicines are not strictly regulated and the effects therefore can be wildly unpredictable. Approved medicines are by contrast, severely measured and are proven to be consistent in quality and dosage. There is the problem of self-medication being done without the requisite knowledge of drug interactions that is also brought forth as an argument against alternative medicines. Usually the self-medicating patient will not have a high level of understanding on this subject and the risk of overdosing or mixing potentially lethal combinations increases.

The lack of common knowledge about many of the older forms of alternative medicines can sometimes lead to the reintroduction of substances and procedures that have previously been disproved. Since the religious terrorism of 9/11 a number of books have appeared by atheists that are staunchly anti-faith and anti-religion, placing many of the evils of modern society at the feet of religion. These include Richard Dawkin’s The God Delusion, Sam Harris’ The End of Faith, Daniel Dennet’s Breaking the Spell: Religion as a Natural Phenomenon, and Christopher Hitchens’ God is Not Great. All are best sellers.

For example, Sam Harris stated that, “Religious faith represents so uncompromising a misuse of the power of our minds that it forms a kind of perverse, cultural singularity – a vanishing point beyond which rational discourse proves impossible. When foisted upon each generation anew, it renders us incapable of realizing just how much our world has been unnecessarily ceded to a dark and barbarous past.” He also suggested that, “The danger of religious faith is that it allows otherwise normal human beings to reap the fruits of madness and consider them holy.” The subtitle of Hitchen’s book, How Religion Poisons Everything is indicative of his stance.

As an atheist I agree with the vast majority of what these authors are saying. However, I have never been an anti-religion or anti-faith atheist and even prefer the term non-theist, since it has less of a negative connotation. It is important for theists to realize that not all atheists are adamantly anti-religion or anti-faith. Given that I have been a scientist for half a century and strongly believe in the scientific method as the best means of finding the truth, and that faith is accepting something despite reason, how could I be so tolerant of faith and religion? The answer is that I take a more nuanced view than a blanket rejection. A number of issues are relevant.

First is the subject of spirituality. While spirituality is often defined in terms of relating to things that are metaphysical, supernatural, religious, or pertaining to God, I prefer a broader definition of a feeling of being connected with something greater than one’s self. While that can be God or other supernatural beings, it can also consist of feeling connected to nature, the universe, one’s family, spouse or friends. Thus, there is much room for being spiritual but not religious. As described in other articles, studies of the biology of spirituality suggest it is largely associated with the temporal lobes, is genetically hardwired, is pleasurable, is critical to the evolution and survival of man, and will never go away.

Studies of spiritual experiences induced by psychedelic drugs show that induced feelings of leaving the room and being in contact with non-human beings was so strong and so powerful that rational subjects were convinced it happened even though they realized that they never left the room and that real contact was impossible. These studies indicate that while external stimulation of the temporal lobes and hippocampus most often record real events such as voices, other sounds and events, the effects of internal stimulation, such as by direct brain stimulation, temporal lobe epilepsy, near-death or drugs, may also be perceived as totally real. This carries with it the lesion that even though our rational brain knows certain things could not have happened, at the same time it needs to give our spiritual brain its space, to sometimes believe in things, or feel good about things, that could not have happened. That is one part of the nuance.

A second part of the nuance is that as thinking human beings we should always defer to rational, fact and science based thought. However, on some occasions a bit of wondrous spirituality occasionally leading to having faith in something can still allow peace to exist between our rational and spiritual brain.

A final part of the nuance is that not all religions or belief systems are the same. A number of belief systems including atheism, non-theism, agnosticism, secular humanism, Buddhism, Jainism, Unitarianism, Universalism, Reform Judaism, some Presbyterian faiths, Taoism, and a belief in the teachings of Jesus where the miracles of Christianity are seen as religious metaphors rather than real – generally allow our rational and spiritual brain to live in peace. Other faiths, like those involving a belief in a personal God that answers prayers tend to stretch the credibility of our rational brain, but not necessarily to the breaking point.

By contrast, I view those religions that believe in the literal truth of the bible, believe the earth is less than 10,000 year old, believe Darwinian evolution is wrong, believe homosexuality and stem cell research are evil, believe their God is the only true God, and that their sacred book is the only true sacred book, or believe in killing, exterminating, or leaving-behind those of other faiths – stretch the rational brain into incredulity and are more likely to lead to religious intolerance, wars and terrorism.. Those and mostly those alone should be subject to the disdain of anti-religion, anti-faith atheists

ScienceDaily’s June 27, 2008 news report documented that “working hard when fatigued may be admired by many Americans, but it is a virtue that could be harmful to one’s health, according to new research by psychologists at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). The research supports a theory which suggests that exhausted individuals’ cardiovascular systems are forced to work harder when they attempt to complete tasks, such as those encountered on the job or at school.”

The research conducted by psychologist Rex Wright, Ph.D , found that fatigued individuals had larger blood pressure increases than rested individuals under certain conditions which may eventually lead to hypertension and heart disease.

This research and many others find that relaxation is the key to helping you stay healthier. Try this for example, if you find yourself moving into negativity or allowing stress to penetrate your happy disposition, take a break and completely engage yourself in observing nature. Take one full minute to completely notice the leaves on a tree and observe as they rustle in the wind. Or choose to mesmerize yourself by watching the clouds and their movements, or if you are near water, enjoy the water and waves. This strategy is designed to help you overcome toxic energy by connecting with nature. Wow, it’s so simple and so enjoyable.

After experiencing this strategy as helpful, can you imagine what a full weekend or week-long vacation enjoying nature would do for you?

Ecotourism is a recent term that naturalists may use. Some define ecotourism as “Responsible travel to natural areas that conserves the environment and improves the well-being of local people.” It can be extreme or simple. Here are some “natural” choices for those that love our environment.

1. Climb the Grand Tetons in Wyoming.

2. A Thrilling Safari in the South African Bush

3. Travel to the Red Rocks of Sedona, AZ – and explore the metaphysical dimensions there. Sedona is known to have highly concentrated energies conducive to prayer, meditation and healing.

4. Hiking through the Grand Canyon — this can be a day trip or you can spend a week there. The magnificence is stunning.

5. Enjoy the Colorado Mountains – Mountainous climbs, hikes with waterfalls, many lakes, streams and brooks to enjoy.

6. Visit the polar bear capital of the world in Churchill, Manitoba, Canada

7. View the Aurora Borealis or Northern Lights.

8. Whale Watching – there are actually many locations for this. This is a spectacular sight to witness – a six ton animal gracefully leaping out of the water. It is simply breath-taking.

9. Discover a 500 year old Incan City in Peru

10. Visit Venezuela which boasts the Caribbean coastline, the tropical Amazon rainforest, the vast savannas of Los Llanos, and the great Andes Mountains .

11. Size up the great Sequoia trees in California.

The possibilities are endless. We have a beautiful world to explore. Enjoy the possibilities and enjoy the benefits of better health.

Why am I writing an article about Barack Obama? I am known for being a multidimensional communication specialist, with a focus on healing with spirit, divine wisdom and love. What does Barack Obama have to do with healing and the spirit world? The answer may surprise you.

I was in my kitchen one day, back in 2006, simply pondering my favorite subject of human dynamics when Barack Obama suddenly popped into my mind. I immediately went into my heart. I tuned into Barack and I had an amazing metaphysical experience. I sensed his energies. I sensed his concerns. I sensed his abilities. I then shot into the future and I saw him as the president of the United States. This was before he was even running for president.

During this experience, I was truly amazed. I saw many things about Barack, but what I was most impressed with was his sense of spirit. It is easy to see how his divine purpose is unfolding.

When I tuned into Barack, I saw a hologram unfold around a concept that I have been wondering about for some time. It is the concept of the silent majority. I get the feeling that Barack has something to do with the silent majority being heard. I get the sense that Barack cares about each person in a very empowering way.

Within the dance of politics, it takes a special person to move beyond the power and control game and genuinely connect with people through heart and spirit. Barack seems to connect with us in a way that is truly beyond the system. Barack is like an amazing voice for the spirit that lives within us all. The more we connect with him, support him, and share with him our energy; the more he shines and empowers us.

During one event in Seattle, many people going to see Barack spoke of this energy. They spoke of the energy that calls to them, inspires them, and intrigues them. As I watched, listened and tuned in, I realized that Barack radiates a hope for something beyond what we are used to seeing, sensing, and knowing. He has something beyond the game. He is a powerful light.

Critics may argue his politics and ponder his capability, and yet they are amazed at his results. It is obvious to me how most of us underestimate the power of spirit. In watching Barack, I thought more deeply about the magic of spirit.

Spirit is the divine pulse within us all. It moves uniquely through each individual, and then creates the unification of all individuals. Spirit empowers our differences, while teaching us how to have unity between our different ways of being.

Barack Obama represents spirit in a unique way. He may be playing the political game, using all the bells and whistles his advisors suggest, but when he speaks from his heart, we feel it, we feel connected, we feel united, and we feel heard.

There are many who ignore Barack and his message of hope, spirit, and the new way. These people dismiss his message as all passion and no substance. Some people are simply too attached to getting what they want. Many people are simply too filled with doubt and fear and are not ready to transcend survival patterning and open to the new way. Other people are caught up in the twists and turns of logic, statistics, rules and roles and are not able to really sink in to feel the heart, essence and spirit of the message.

Within the silent majority I can sense the frustration. I can sense the desire for results. I can sense the call to move beyond the old way and into the new. The silent majority wants something beyond what has been, but they are silent.

The majority has been silent because there seems to be no hope. There is the perception that there is no real system, within the system, to unify and empower the individual voice within the group to create change.

We live in a time where it is possible to see the end of hunger and poverty and it is possible to move beyond war, corruption, greed, selfishness, and move beyond the power and control games that signify the way life has been. But how do we get to this new state of being?

The answer is found within the individual. Each individual has the ability to open to the new way and personally awaken.

Barack Obama is one example of how this new way is coming to life. He individually transcends the game, within the game. He transcends the polarized right and left and unifies individuals collectively.

Many of us are called to Barack with hope, with anticipation, and with a sense of there being something more. And so we look, listen and we move beyond.

As we listen to Barack’s message, we look into our own hearts and we look into our own spirits. We examine our uniqueness. We acknowledge our difference. And we open up to the divine that exists within us all and connects us all together. With Barack’s message of unification, we feel connected because we are.

What Barack stands for is so simple that most people say they don’t know what Barack stands for. We hear him speak and talk in such basic terms that many critics say they don’t really know what is being said.

What is being said is simply common sense. It is what we all feel in our hearts. It is what we all know is the truth. It is our inner truth. It is our human truth. It is our collective human wisdom.

Barack’s message is inspiration. It is hope. It is not about him. It is about you and me waking up to our own voice and singing our own song. It is about all of us being wisdom and light, together.

The silent majority has not had a voice before. That is because most of us are filled with common sense, and common sense has not worked before in our systems. Those in the systems have not wanted to hear it. And so it has been hopeless for most of us to speak. We have created a time of mass consciousness learned helplessness.

But things are changing now. Individuals are opening to the new way. People are standing up and claiming common sense. People are claiming heart-based wisdom in enough ways to impact the way the systems operate. And so the silent majority is beginning to awaken.

It is up to us.

It is and always has been our choice!

Barack Obama represents this new time that is being created. He has a spirit about him that transcends the old way of doing things. This is what we sense. This is what we know. And we are a part of this energy. It is our collective spirit that is calling for us to unite. It is our collective spirit that is calling for us to speak our individuated voice and sing our unique song.

When we each speak our heart’s truth, the masses that have been silent until now are truly heard.

Barack Obama impacts me personally, because he challenges me to do more than analyze. He challenges me to tune back into my heart. Barack is an activator of spirit. When I see the volume of people come out and participate who have never before participated, then I have hope.

Could this be the time when our systems of power and control evolve into systems of wisdom and love?

It is up to the silent majority.

It is up to us.

Everybody knows that when you visit the southwest, you are supposed to visit the Grand Canyon. The Grand Canyon is the quintessential family vacation destination—no matter where in America you live. Of course, there is a lot more to do in Arizona than ride donkeys down to the Colorado River!

Look, we aren’t knocking the Grand Canyon—it certainly is grand and it is something that everyone should see at least once. But Arizona has so much more to do and see.

Today the Arizona Micro Blog is going to be talking about Sedona. Sedona is, arguably, one of the most beautiful desert oases in the world. Smack dab in the Arizona desert, Sedona offers a cooler climate, lush greenery and all of the painted desert scenery a person could want.

Most people know Sedona as “one of those hippie artsy towns” and, to be sure, there are quite a few artist studios and metaphysical tourist shops here. If you wanted to find a place to get balanced, learn how to heal yourself with crystals and get in touch with your inner spirit guide, Sedona Arizona is certainly the place to do all of that. But there is a lot more to Sedona than the hippie artsy stuff. Here are a few of the other things Sedona Arizona has to offer:

Slide Rock State Park

This one of Arizona’s most famous state parks. The park features a natural rock slide that has become one of the world’s most beloved natural water slides. This park is so popular that nature conservationists worry about it being loved right out of existence by too much foot traffic. To be sure, the US Forest Service and the Arizona State Parks Department work tirelessly to make sure that the park stays clean and “user friendly.”

The Sedona International Film Festival

In 2009 the Sedona International Film Festival will last for six days, from Tuesday February 24, to March 1. The Sedona International Film Festival is when film buffs from all over the globe flock to Arizona to teach and share their art with others. This is no “up and coming” festival either—big names like Olympia Dukakis, Robert Osborne, and Helen Hunt have attended this festival!

Out of Africa Wildlife Park

The most popular attraction at this famous Arizona wildlife park is Tiger Splash, a show in which full grown tigers play in a pool with their handlers—they pounce on balls, play with toys and play in and out of the water. Make no mistake these tigers have all of their claws and teeth, but because they are treated well by their handlers and have a close relationship with them, there aren’t many accidents. You don’t have to worry about having a repeat of Siegfried and Roy here! This show is very popular with young kids who often spend the rest of the day re-enacting the show!

Arizona is certainly famous for its national parks and stark desert landscape, but the state is home to hidden gems (like Sedona as well). There’s plenty to do off the beaten path, you just have to take some time to explore!
